When introducing or discussing the British Value of individual liberty. "The granny who wasn't like other grannies" is a great book. It encapsulates the essence of this brilliantly. #YouGotThis

Using picture books can be a great way of engaging children in discussions around British values: use "The Election" can help with developing children's understanding of democracy and how it works in Britain. #YouGotThis

When teaching British values, picture books can be a great way to engage children in a discussion about them. "This is not my hat" is brilliant for talking about the rule of law. #YouGotThis

When working on British values, picture books can be a great way in. "something else" is a book most teachers know, but it can be a great way to talk about tolerance and mutual respect. #YouGotThis

*Daily Tip*
When children are distracted or not engaged with their work, my favourite question is "what should you be doing now?" Most children then get back down to work. You may get an "I don't know" which means you can reinforce & guide them back to the task. #YouGotThis

*Daily Tip*
When using mini whiteboards to check pupil understanding, make sure you ask more than one question. Sometimes pupils can get a question right by chance. Taking the time to ask a second question can save you time later in the session. #YouGotThis

Your induction tutor should be carrying out your first progress review point. It is a simple form, please note that it talks about being on track -not a pass/fail. It also gives you space to share your thoughts. Take the time to do this. #YouGotThis

A puppet can be a great way to discuss situations that arise in school. I once had a puppet that had pushed another puppet over because they wouldn't let them play. The chn gave some helpful advice & came up with strategies that they/the puppet could use next time.
