First: thank you so much! Second: I was expecting to be taught, but you totally surprised me.
After thinking, it seems to me like if things had stopped right here:

Don't know if this is just a me problem, but I kept not being able to donate until I was logged in and refreshed the page. For two days I've been stuck on the spinning circle, even letting it go for 5 minutes at once point, but finally thought to log in first & this time it worked.

Good luck!

This is pretty edited, the actual heist sequence takes up about a 3rd of the film. Extraordinary. They do a ton of things INCREDIBLY well and accurately.

I'm hitting the road for Vermont, but I'll explain more soon!

Though these chests would be built for transport they were often used in institutional settings as proto-safes.

Eventually safe manufacturers began making consumer-facing home safes & inevitably began furniturizing those secure containers. A favorite example are boudoir safes:

In fact, some of the earliest "safes" were just big chests. Many of these were made in Germany in the 1600s and are commonly known as "Armada Chests" but that term came much later and were the result of Victorian imaginations more than actual history of Spanish ship-side security.
