Our last cat nearly strangled himself on his collar (got it stuck on one of those springy doorstops), so we've gone collar-free ever since. Violet is microchipped and of course we're pretty diligent in making sure she never gets out.

Sounds more like a UTI. My old cat had similar symptoms once. We always used to go to Friendship, $$$, but good care. Good luck!
