In Super Mario Odyssey, New Donkers are called "CityMan" internally. An unused entry in the capture list is "CityManFlying". This suggests Mario was intended to be able to capture a regular human man who could somehow fly.

Remember the eclipse back in April?
Since eclipses are rare I practiced camera settings and timing... then changed travel plans, watched the weather like a hawk, and ended up driving quite a bit. It all worked out. I'm proudest of this image and would love to do projects like this more often.
