Reading the narrative that the poster I referred to has presented, I fear that if they hadn't moderated their former (albeit seemingly excessive) anger, the monstrous boundary-crossing they have suffered may have been nipped in the bud simply by that anger. It's like a Greek tragedy.

You will never be free of that 7 yr old, they will always shape what you are but you have no obligations to them.

Look in the mirror, that's the *now* person, that's the flesh and blood person.

This is hard - you have no obligations to that 7 yr old kid, that person disappeared a long time ago, it is the memories of them that remain, their feelings, the imprint of their experiences. Don't saddle yourself with such guilt.
