🩷NO book bans! fREADom for all
🩵neurodivergent family
Last night I hosted my schools first family literacy night. It was a bright spot in what’s been a dark year. I was honored to have a local author Latrice McGlothin join us too with her book Hello Coco! I’m grateful to all the authors who donated signed books and swag. So many kids went home happy!

Kudos to Michael Wolff for his truthful and insightful and not at all flattering look at how we got ourselves into the drama we are in today and a glaring behind the scenes look at 🤡 and his crew #notmypresident

Today’s Black History month read aloud is Because of You John Lewis.

It was so much fun having a read aloud of Bitsy Bat Team Star from @kazwindness.bsky.social today! It was extra special that my boys got to join and Ty even got to ask her a question! We love Bitsy and all her unique friends 💕🦇

So excited to add this to my shelf and reading list just in time for #blackhistorymonth. @keklamagoon.bsky.social
Reading is resistance!

Happy book birthday @chrislhayes.bsky.social for The Sirens’ Call. Reading is resistance! I also got Make Trouble by Cecil Richards today as we can all take lessons in leadership from a strong woman who faced a lot of hate for the work she did.

We supported our local #library yesterday! Jax got 5 books about space and Ty had to be convinced that he doesn’t have to borrow the whole library at one time. Now more than ever it’s so important to support your library system. We are making a bimonthly commitment to visit!

Tyler and I enjoyed learning more about #lunarnewyear last night by reading Goldy Luck and the Three Pandas. Very cute spin on Goldilocks and the 3 bears. He really wanted to make the turnip cake recipe at the back. Love my tiny reader chef 🥰

Jax and I really liked this book! I felt like I was reading about him when it started with a kid being bored by everything until they discovered the curious why. My buddy is also extremely curious about all topics & I love seeing that side of him. You’re only bored if you choose to be!

Incredibly needed into today’s world - although it’s written with young adults in mind, it’s truly something everyone who cares about learning the truth needs to read and digest. I’m excited to learn how to make sure I’m not taken into propaganda and only read and share what is actually happening.

Thank you to @etraintalks.bsky.social for his recommendation of a book to read with my students today #holocaustremembranceday. We all learned so much from The Tree of Life and I loved that we could compare it to This Very Tree (for 9/11)

When your union gives you permission to increase your book budget for each month’s equity raffle, you run with it! These will be February’s raffles for our elementary and middle school teachers #blackhistorymonth #equitymatters

Started #thatlibrarian about Amanda Jones the courageous librarian who stood up against book censorship and found herself threatened and her reputation drug through the mud. Timely, passionate and a must read for all librarians and educators and anyone concerned about the direction we are going.

What a great story! Balto is usually thought of as the hero of the Great Race of Mercy in Alaska in 1925, but Togo was the dog who ran the longest stretch in that race to deliver sick children life saving serum. We all enjoyed this story very much including our own husky mix, Sadie 🐾🐾🐾

Can’t wait to dive into this ARC by @halseanderson.bsky.social I hear it’s wonderful and very timely. Thank you to NetGalley.

I made it a reading goal in 2025 to make sure I read books that pertain to current global topics that I don’t have a good grasp. This book was recommended as a starting place as it’s written by a multigenerational Palestinian and shows the conflict through a Palestinian lens. #freePalestine

You know a book is great when in the first couple of pages you’re already like yup this book is headed for the banned lists 😂 @katemessner.com has another home run in her history smashers series - this time about the environment and climate change and the origins of earth day. 🧵

Thank you to Meg Eden Kuyatt for allowing me to be on her ARC team for #thegirlinthewalls This book was another gem of a #middlegrade #novelinverse. I love how she portrays #neurodivergent individuals and how they perceive the world.

Some of my top reads from 2024. @jenniferlynnbarnes.bsky.social @sarahreesbrennan.bsky.social I will repeatedly recommend As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow to help understand the situation in Syria and the Middle East and to open hearts and minds. Few books make me cry - this one wrecked me.

Successful gift card spending trip to B&N Jax picked out a cool book about space as that is his newest interest, the second #wingsoffire #graphicnovel and a #mindcraft reader.

When I saw NetGalley had an ARC for a new Cornelia Funke book, I squealed like my inner child who devoured the #inkheart series. This one does NOT disappoint! A magical story of friendship across distance and sisterhood and riddles across time and distance. #thegreenkingdom
