I was once enjoying a nice meandering drive through Portugal when we contacted people we were going to meet. They told us it would take ~3hrs to get to them. Google said closer to 5hrs. That’s when I realized I had avoid tolls enabled.

My reason to get an SUV was that as I’m older and creakier, it’s a lot easier to get in and out of than low slung sedans.

We visited SA in January and found Cape Peninsula magnificent and the drive along the a Cape from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth to be stunning. I’d love to go back sometime but it’s about as far as you can get from Vancouver.
