So all of these children are going to have their friends scatter across the city because we don't fund education enough and Arizona in particular flows money away from public schools any chance they get.
I guess these kids get an early lesson in how the world really works, but it's so unfair.

(I bet the district doesn't want to do anything to upset these parents because they could easily afford to pull their kids into private schools if something angers them enough -- and in AZ that sucks funding away. Another good lesson for the children actually affected by all of this adult nonsense.)

Our test scores seem lower and no group of students is perfect, but c'mon. How can people be like this? A parent at the other school says (paraphrasing) "Well once you're in, you're in and it's great. But they're really insular otherwise." Okay then.

The dumbest part is that the kids at our school are all great and the parents all _chose_ to bring them to a good district and a good school. The parents want their kids to learn and seem to want them to do the best they can. The other school's parents just happen to live there.

I bet the fact that ours is a Title 1 school of choice and theirs pulls in some of the wealthiest zip codes in the country doesn't have anything to do with it. I hear the wording they used was "we have to protect our culture." Their school is 74% white, ours is 34%. I'm sure it's not related.

Beyond that the scuttlebutt among parents is that the neighboring school had parent meetings where they tried their best to not have the schools merge and generally want to keep the children at my kid's school away from their school.

(streaming sucks now on all fronts. I've cancelled almost everything, leaving only things my child would kill me if I cancelled. And those may be gone soon any way as she ages out. There are like 10 channels I'd ever need for sports and I can go without. I hate paying for so much garbage.)

I wish the teams had different colors so the split was more obvious.
