Big day for anyone working in #Canada energy efficiency industries. We’ve all been guessing what this federal #budget will or will not include. Here’s hoping that the big cuts don’t include the win-win-win, popular, residential retrofit programming - for everyone’s sake, not least the government’s.

I've found myself in the market for a laptop after many years and I am totally befuddled by the hundreds of options. Is this what it means to be growing old?

So happy for 💐Stephen Graham💐 and all involved in the TV show Adolescence for picking up those Emmy Awards. Easily one of the best television shows I’ve seen.

Canada is about to build millions of new homes. This is a once-in-a-generation nation-building project, the kind we haven’t seen since the postwar boom.

The sound of water bombers right over our heads. I don’t know how to feel about it. It’s a sound that is simultaneously comforting and stressful. The kids find it novel, and I remember that it’s not normal.

How Dry is it in Nova Scotia? Did a quick analysis of the longest established local weather station.

It is the driest since summer of 1975. Interestingly dry summers were common in the early 20th century, but have now all but slipped out of living memory. #NovaScotia #AtlanticCanada

As I do flood risk assessments for residents of particular places, I've considered neighbourhood flood water 'sinks' like this, but in most instances there's nowhere for it to go that is useful to those residents. Towns in NS have been developed with little to no capacity for storm water management.
Well-managed urban stormwater ponds can be places of refuge and beauty. Here, a pair of pelicans has been in this naturalized stormwater pond for several weeks.

Fracking puts 40% of Nova Scotians’ drinking water at risk.
It leaks methane. It harms health. It's disastrous for the climate. It threatens fishing, farming & tourism.

All for a dying fossil fuel market? No thanks.

The Province does - and it can let companies explore, even if you say no. That happened this year with a lithium mine.
