As a teacher, there is nothing better than the message from a student you had years ago saying they remember your class fondly. It is absolutely electric. If you have that teacher in your life and you can find a way to reach out to them, do it!

If you read the Constitution and come to the conclusion that these three branches are coequal, you’ve done messed up.

It was an honor to chaperone for Broward’s chapter of Founding Forward on its trip to the Spirit of America Youth Leadership program. My first time at Valley Forge, but it won’t be my last. Visiting its Medal of Honor Grove was humbling and peeking inside Washington’s Headquarters was awe-inspiring.

Reading Gordon Wood’s “Empire of Liberty,” and his description of the Thomas Jefferson’s belief in the Embargo Act of 1807 and its subsequent impact reminded me of this classic tweet (apologies for the profanity, but it’s perfect).

In case anyone may be curious, I host a podcast called @thisdaymiamipod.com. It’s obviously locally focused, but I think there are some larger lessons to be learned from Miami’s past. Just imported the Tweet archive as well. I’d love feedback from folks!
Hello! If you don't know, this account is the home of @thisdaymiamipod, a podcast dedicated to the history of Miami and Miami-Dade County. If you would like to check out our extensive archive, please follow us at your preferred podcast platform below!

Hello Bluesky! I’ve migrated my personal Twitter account, but not my professional. Time to rectify that! I teach juniors and seniors at the School for Advanced Studies in Miami. I’m public school proud, both as a student and a teacher! My bailiwick is social sciences, with a love for Gov. #EduSky

Really pleased with my @TheBeaconMAST reporters with this story. They worked with PIOs to help the reporting on the story in the school stronger.

I always have my students read the Articles of Confederation (it’s a pretty darn short document) and this always causes a few raised eyebrows. Students wonder why they wouldn’t have joined, which leads us right into the difficulties the country faced in the 1780s.
