Thanks for sharing. Yes, I too hold a much more modest assessment of the degree to which the GE votes for Z reflect ideological shifts to the left and have also found that for many who didn't vote for Z in the PE but did in the GE, the change in position was based in other differences.

If most people (including most people who vote) were primarily motivated by ideology, then we wouldn't need to do field, haha. It's because other factors tend to dominate that relationships and the manner in which 1-on-1 conversations about specific candidates proceed make such a big difference.

10,000+ members of the NYC DSA
1,036,051 votes for Mamdani in the GE
878,956 on the Democratic line: (42.75%)
157,095 on the WFP line (7.64%)
1,019,870 votes on other lines for a vast majority of center to right leaning candidates. If you don’t think these numbers tell a story…🤷🏾‍♂️

Quite the interesting thread here….
I’ve been trying to follow, as an outsider, the substantive discussion about Chi Ossé‘s candidacy beyond the NYT “let’s get them to fight” gossip and I understand why people are concerned about his run and also see why people are excited
1. Not great that he JUST joined DSA
