#Geography teacher, helping to deliver whole school #literacy
I've just been putting together a booklet for year 8 on Coasts which uses QR codes to take them to Hemsby, we are planning to do it alongside optional Brighton (where we live) fieldwork. The logistics of a whole year group are too much...!🥹
Can send you what I've done, would love feedback!

Substack is starting to feel like Twitter used to, you know when there was a community of people sharing great ideas, really enjoying @ensermark.bsky.social being back! This is another great article for geographers! open.substack.com/pub/enserm/p...

Love this, too often we as teachers forget this... Great to be reminded, thanks Mark

I think assumptions around 'cultural capital' are also a barrier. We as teachers can assume knowledge of the world because many of us have had the privilege of travel and experience of different places and people but don't of my students hadn't even been to the beach in the UK...

I think one of the barriers that I have seen (having worked in very deprived schools) is that parents hear 'geography leads you to do almost any job' but actually hear 'it leads you to nothing'. Students don't have the privilege of risking 'nothing in particular'. Lots of communication needed!

Hey Hanna, my school doesn't do A level so I feel a little bit out of the loop on that one. We used to use Geofiles but really depends on students because they can be quite heavy going? Could geography review be worth looking at? magazines.hachettelearning.com/magazines/ge...

Yeah, I just don't think that's much for a test track and research buildings!? Bit if a rubbish question of you ask me 😂

Surely that's not big enough for a test track and research building?
