#Geography teacher, helping to deliver whole school #literacy
I've just been putting together a booklet for year 8 on Coasts which uses QR codes to take them to Hemsby, we are planning to do it alongside optional Brighton (where we live) fieldwork. The logistics of a whole year group are too much...!🥹
Can send you what I've done, would love feedback!

Well this is exciting, just read @geogenquirer.bsky.social 's article in Teaching Geography and I've been referenced 🤯. Think that's a life ambition ✅! Glad you found the article useful Rachel, I'm actually going to use yours for department meeting as we are looking at purpose!

This doesn't bode well for #geography, we barely get any applications for jobs and didn't get a single one for maternity cover...😬

Had a great few days in #dorset on residential. It really is a beautiful part of the world! Favourite quote from a student: geography is coming alive!

I'm trying to work out this question... Am I wrong in thinking this question doesn't work. I'm thinking they want to locate it on one grid square (1km by 1km), but that's not the same as 2sets of 500m2? One grid square is 1million M2 isn't it? @fiona-sheriff.bsky.social @geodougie.bsky.social

Good starter for climate change and discussions around impacts of globally warming...

66km - 90% off roads. Just cycled the Downs Link Way, one for the new @slowwaysuk.bsky.social . So amazing to be able to go so far without being on roads! Loved it!

When your year 9s notice you've been a bit stressed recently and decorate a cake as the Earth! Makes it all worthwhile!

And so it starts: Year 10 countdown to their mocks, a question a day, set on google classroom.

I'm super excited about this, @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social speaks for me through his books, they are always so beautifully written. My favourite is still Mountains of the Mind just because it says all the things I think about mountains in the most beautiful way, hoping this is as good it better!

Elif Shafak writes so beautifully and this is a super interesting thought on maps and our roles as geographers!

Well this is a fantastic book from @edconway.bsky.social . So much geography in here, both physical and human. Only just started and wondering where I can fit it all in!!

This has made me so sad...I am guilty of spreading urban myths that Iceland is Europe's largest exported of bananas...! 😭

I love @ourworldindata.org - being able to select your own cities to talk about changing patterns of #urbanisation is awesome!

I love this page about #London's hidden rivers, especially the last paragraph about the #Westbourne. Picture below is the river...🤯

Well this is fun for anyone looking at #migration! When people say we need to stop immigration, do they know the facts about what this means for population, tax and healthcare? www.theguardian.com/world/ng-int...

So much of this book is so beautifully written, I don't know the symbolism yet but the theme of water running throughout is magical!

Simple but so effective as an exercise...I've been doing this a while with Year 10 and they are starting to reap the benefits!
