It’s that time a year when teachers share bad hot takes and demand others not shame them because… solidarity. So just to clarify I don’t walk in solidarity with bad teachers and I will call it out. I hope others will do the same. This is about becoming better not supporting garbage practice.

Teaching literary theory has been the most influential approach I’ve used to improve HS students’ interpretive ability.

Theory helps them see what’s possible with interpretation, not just what’s permitted by “correct” readings.

It is sad to say, but I can with confidence state I will not be entering the United States for the next few years. One because I don’t support the actions of their current government, two because it does not seem safe for anyone not American, and finally because I will not support their economy.
