So Trump implemented tariffs against Mexico, Canada, and China. Then he had a 'very nice conversation' with the President of Mexico, and has paused the tariffs for 30 days because...

Trump is so transparent. If you give him attention and 'respect', he caves. Why we should be afraid of Putin?

I'm trying my hardest to ignore the daily noise out of DC. My theory is, if you respond to everything, you are being vaccinated against constitutional transgressions and eventually you will have to ignore the 'small' ones. It's called flooding the zone.

But even the bits I do get are cray-cray.

I wonder how long things will go before people start collecting pitchforks and torches?

On my way from Western NC to Orlando. Sure we had snow in the mountains, but this was along I26 and we continued to see snow as far south as Savanah. Weird.

I'm a software developer in a support engineer's clothing. I am working on tools to automate support. A support engineer shared samples of certain types of logs. There are two specific formats for these logs (which I am parsing). Until there was a third.. and the idea that there might be more..

The more I hear about Carrie Underwood, the less I like her. Wonder if Spotify allows for blocking artists?

Hiding up in my fortress of solitude, wrapped in a blanket of fresh snow, and ignoring the early fits of the Dictator in Chief. Also ignoring the punditry screaming about Trump's first day. Truthfully, giving Trump attention is what keeps him going. Like a childish tantrum.

Hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains on a sunny/snowy/sleet-y day. Just what the doctor ordered.

Doing the final packing for a work-play week up in the mountains of North Carolina. This has the advantage of being a 'purple' area (better than red Florida), and far from the news and events of the day (especially Jan 20th). So I can live out my week and completely miss the inauguration BS.

I’m a cat person. Why do people carry bags for their dog poop, pick it up, then leave it on side of trail or next to where they parked their car?

Strange morning. Some a**hat put my information into moving.com for a fictitious move to another state. This automatically notified a dozen or more moving providers to submit bids and contact me. I have received multiple email bids, and voice mail messages already.

What's the point?

After the election, I purposefully distanced myself from my sources of news. Mostly it was because I drank the liberal koolaid and Harris lost bigly. I don't want to go through four more years of anger and opposition. It's not healthy. But it's hard to ignore the abject stupidity of him.

Running my regular 5.5 mile route this cool morning. To avoid boredom or focusing on my aching legs, I started looking at roadside trash. Single use bags, soda and beer cans, Big Gulp cups, lids, and straws, random clothing.

There was a time when Americans took pride in the environment.

I took a week off from running to help my daughter prepare her house for sale. Ran a six mile route this morning in 40F and it … was… terrible..

Happy new years from the land of Ron DeSantis. Enjoying our fire pit with the staccato rattle and boom of fireworks. My cat doesn’t care, but I know a lot of dog owners who are less than thrilled about the ‘celebration’

Sunrise over the Atlantic in 2017. The clouds looked like a mountain range.

For reasons I can’t recall, I watched the remake of the movie ‘Midway’ on Netflix tonight. The real story of Midway is one of the greatest victories in American history.

The movie was crap. All CGI, a potentially great cast, awful script, and gamification of action. Just awful.

Drone show.. weeks ago, before they started falling from the sky and hitting impressionable kids on the head.

Sunset in Sedona,AZ. A light rain facilitated a double rainbow. I took this during dinner on the night after our epic Rim to Rim hike in Grand Canyon.

I have seen an uptick in people following me. It's not like I have 100K (I don't!) but when people follow me, I try to check on them. A lot of them have a few thousand followers, or are following hundreds or thousands, and they have only a few posts. That is a red flag to me.

While we were in AZ last March, we stopped at the Big Meteor Crater. Whoa.

The left image shows the entire crater from the observation deck. The right image is zoomed in on the small mine complex at the bottom. There is a dummy in a space suit for scale.

Hiking to Tea Pot Rock in Sedona, AZ. Beautiful hike, beautiful place, beautiful view. Sedona has more beautiful views and interesting spots than almost anywhere.

Hiked this in March 2924.
