Plenty of body strength exercises when they are younger.

Use stroke directional arrows in combination numbering.

Plenty of feedback

It makes sense to teach letters using some sort of organisational principle (e.g letter families) but no research on this.

Depends what current grip they have. In the bits of research I found, providing the pupil has a mature grip, then it makes no difference to the handwriting quality.

Reading the new report on EYFS and this resonates so much.

It’s not that we ‘ban’ kids from writing at length. They can do that in free flow, but let’s give them the foundations so that when we want to teach them the process of writing it is enjoyable.
