Stop Killing Games is something that people very much support at a theoretical level. If you just say 'it doesn't work at a practical level' and fail to give any alternative, people are going to dislike. It's no more complicated than 'I want to play the games that I buy' for most people.

It's about consumer protections. Consumer protections don't need to take into consideration the ease of operation for businesses or what kind of technical decisions drive their projects. This is the only console generation where games are expected to not work shortly after being sold.
