This week, I’m talking to folks who want to get (back) into reading because literacy is good, and with the rise of AI, thinking for yourself and challenging your assumptions has become anti-capitalist, and we need more of that.

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

YESSSS!! Give me monsters that are just Some Guy in an unconvincing suit that’s maybe a blanket.
Make more sci-fi shows with insanely expensive premises for $20(CAD) per episode!! Please!!

Ok, so I just went to pre-order the next book, and it looks like publishers aren’t allowing Libro.fm users to use monthly credits on these books, anymore, which is a shame. I was able to use credits on the first 4. I wonder if Audible has anything to do with that. Anyone have any ideas?

Kristen Atherton’s new narration is absolutely flawless, and she does right by my favourite book of the series. Now just one month until Book 5! Hopefully!

Ok, so Gregory Maguire just announced that he’s writing a Glinda prequel, and while I am aware that this is just capitalism capitalisming, I am so excited! This is going to be cutting high society satire at its BEST!

Today is moving day at work following a long and arduous renovation, and also, it’s been “everyone is having a surprise emergency” day, so I would really like it if the world would just pause for thirty minutes so I could have a quick breakdown. I’ll be fine after.

Welp…time to find another software…
TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.

Hey, I'm looking for comics and graphic novels *by* Indigenous writers and/or illustrators, especially in the Americas. Doesn't have to be a recent book. Any genre! Any topic, any themes, does not have to be a memoir or history, though that is welcome too!

While we’re talking James Bond, please read these books (book three incoming). It features great queer and disability rep, and one of the agents is a nod to Julian Bashir’s James Bond DS9 episode “Our Man Bashir,” and Book one features a Bond Boy with a history with one of the male agents!

All the people on TikTok who said “I’ve read Frankenstein a million times, and GDT’s film version completely misses the point” were lying. This movie absolutely understands that Victor is an irresponsible weirdo who completely fails to understand that a dad should care for his children.

This was a gorgeous poetic look at the ways in which Elphaba’s view of the world came to be, and how her relationship with her father and siblings shaped her attitudes.
