I've never been more proud to be a City Councilor in #Easthampton, #Massachusetts. We've always punched above our weight when it comes to public education and justice. We're indebted to @democracyforward.org for leading the way and helping us protect our public education institutions across the US.

In today's piece on Restorative Governance, I revisit themes of death, dying, and the refusal to let go. While it is anchored by the death of #Congress #RepConnolly, the message is broadly addressing the Democratic Party writ large.
Part 2: The Grace to Let Go and the Sacred Duty of Departure: A Reckoning
In a previous piece, I reflected on the quiet departure of Justice David Souter and the stubborn endurance of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, two figures whose choices about when to leave public life lef...

There is so much shame on CNN and Jake Tapper right now. A wheelchair is not a disqualifying factor of being a good person or a strong leader. Why aren't they focusing their time the complete dissolution of our constitution and democracy?

Former President Joe Biden’s physical deterioration was severe enough in the second half of his presidency that his aides privately discussed putting him in a wheelchair for his second term, according to a new book from CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson.

Catholics and Episcopalians are holding the moral high ground in ways I've never seen in my life. True followers of Christ need to join the cause for morality and stand up for what they believe in. There is power in unity. The opportunity is now.

A bit impromptu, but I've written about the passing of former Justice David Souter, legacies, and learning when to let go.

The Grace to Let Go and the Sacred Duty of Departure
David Souter died the way he lived: without spectacle, without vanity, and with a deep reverence for the institutions he served. Appointed to the Supreme Court by President George H.

Jess Calarco has done a brilliant job of decentering the narrative around "cheating" on school assignments when students use AI to assist in their projects. Every industry in our country uses it. We should prepare students for the world they're entering. Not indicting them for crimes we commit.
We shouldn't wonder why young people are leaning so heavily on AI for school assignments when corporate leaders are telling young people--what you can do isn't as good as what I can get from AI.
What broke me was seeing a CEO I really respected who talked a lot about the community and how much he loves giving back say "I get better work out of AI than I do out of interns" because I know for a fact that there are interns in that building right now and you just slagged them off for nothing

This third installment looks at the meaning and purpose behind names, and how Pope Francis and Pope Leo through the choosing of their names call upon public servants to care for the public and be courageous and diplomatic during the collapse of democratic institutions.

If We Claim the Name, We Must Claim the Responsibility
Pope Francis died on Easter Monday. The man who chose his name not out of tradition, but conviction, in honor of Francis of Assisi, the saint who stripped himself of riches to live among the poor.
