If there is anything worse than "economist brain", it's economist brain arguments about how inefficient the state is.

So what do you make of this comment in the linked thread with statements like "BlueSky wanted to go for a more semi-centralized consortium of businesses"... "At a technical level, nothing would have prevented them from proposing some small patches to ActivityPub".

Remove any of the above 5 & I'm not sure I would be where I am... & I haven't completely landed yet. Time will tell.
That said, it's been immensely rewarding. Now able to pin a paper to each topic in this graphic (made 2 long yrs ago!) gives me a great sense of accomplishment!

Another diverging plot re: the climate emergency. This one's from finance: fossil fuel industry's bond issues, e.g. to finance expansion. Bonds are tricky: harder to track and can have far future maturation i.e. repayment dates. See eport on these toxic bonds

Woah Woah woah. I'm just here for rational spheres of discourse, Ben Recht. There's a not-insignificant # of scientists that manage to survive without a killer instinct. Maybe anticorrelated with top R1 unis. It's not so bad if you come down to where the rest of us are. You're generalizing poorly ;)
