Hope y'all enjoyed our talks at #Candida2025! Theresa presented yesterday one of her PhD projects about the C. glabrata-macrophage interaction. Tim presented today his work about the antibacterial mechanisms of candidalysin, and Sascha presented Osama's work on C. albicans' lipases.

What a great talk by Megan Lenardon @fungalmeg.bsky.social from the #UNSWSydney! She visited our lab today @leibniz-hki.de and presented her group's work about how to antagonize #Candida albicans infections, either by novel antifungal polymers or via microbiome-based therapeutics. 🦠🧫🔬

Excellent talk! Our Postdoc Steffi Allert presented another part of Tim's @microverse.bsky.social -funded project about the role of ECE1 (the gene that encodes candidalysin) in non-albicans #Candida species. 🧬🍄

Yesterday, Judith Behnsen from the University of Illinois & Chicago visited our lab @leibniz-hki.de and gave an amazing talk in the @microverse.bsky.social seminar. She presented her group's work about Salmonella exploiting Candida albicans' presence in the gut.🦠🍄

What an afternoon! ✨️
Yesterday, we had our annual group excursion together with @aps-hki.bsky.social. We visited the Petersberg citadel in Erfurt🏰, participated in a chocolate workshop and prepared our own pralines🍫, and had a nice dinner together! 🍻🌃

What an amazing weekend! 🥳
Every year, all #PhDcandidates, Master's and Bachelor's students go on a little city trip - this year's destination was Strasbourg. 🏙
We played lasertag, went to a trampoline park, and admired the beautiful timbered houses!
