I feel like there needs to be more than a bare 50.1% to vote for something this important. Because without sufficient buy-in you risk significant social disruption.

I think the divide in leftism is, those who come to leftism because they're Against something versus those who come to leftism because they're For something. In my experience, a lot of the people who define their politics in oppositional terms mostly only care about who gets to hurt people.

This makes sense. I guess a big concern about these rules is the moral hazard. By making it impossible to attack those who hold sufficiently large numbers of human shields, do you encourage the use of human shields? And does that cause more innocent death in the long run?
