My husband was finally able to quit after trying 10 times by working with a team of care professions who came up with a plan for him to take off a week of work and download a huge MMORPG. He really only left the house that week to go see his therapist. It worked!

So yeah, this is fundamentally about trans people and that cannot be elided, but the ways in which junior faculty are targeted and disposed of, while academic jobs are increasingly precarized, and political grandstanders seek to influence academic governance are fucking terrifying for everyone.

I assume the S is for “special student” in some capacity-since he is described as a special student? It seems he only attended briefly in 1930.

That’s how I say then and have always said them. I also say pin/pen the same and as a young person said crayon and crown the same (both with two syllables) but my northern education beat that one out of me.

It's interesting that the same people who kept saying we did not need to address institutional racism because it doesn't really happen in our post-racial society are now aggressively and openly practicing racism at an institutional level.
