A doodly comic for my thoughts post working on a script for the Spanish translation of @amartbee.bsky.social 's second Tarble/Granolah comic!

(This will not be a series, but if it was it'd probably be called "Translator's Note:")
A black and white comic consisting of two simple figures, one with glasses and one with bushy hair. Text reads: "I'm Mozart. This is Bee. We have different interests and skills in our fannish expression--I write and Bee draws. We still collab and have even made comics together out of things that I've written. Page two of the comic, the glasses-wearing person is talking to the bushy-haired person in the first panel, a crude drawing of Tarble and Granolah from the Dragon Ball series deeply kissing floats above them. The bushy-haired person is nodding in agreement. Text reads: "But, y'know, it's not like Bee has all the free time in the world, so I suggested using DeepL to translate one of our Tarblenolah comics." Panel two shows a split screen of the two in different places, the glasses girl is sitting at her computer with her leg slung oddly over the arm of her chair (neurodivergent sitting) and the bushy-haired girl is looking at her phone in a waiting area (the TV behind her reads "President Pissbaby Shits Himself" from 420 News). Text reads: "I went back to it and finished it recently, then I sent it to her for corrections. It's important to have a native speaker to check for natural tone and grammar since machine translators aren't fully accurate." Panel three: Bee is pointing out a sentence that says "Sí...quiero entregarme a él..." (it's meant to say "I want to turn myself into him [an authority figure]") Her text reads: "This sentence, remove 'a él'." Panel four: Mozart is spitting out her soda comically while her eyes bug out and her glasses fly off, Bee is sheepishly smiling. Text reads: "It makes it sound like Granolah is going to [BLEEP] Vegeta, too..." A screenshot of the sentence ran through DeepL is shown, the translation reads "I'm going to GIVE MYSELF to him." The two are laughing over it, though, and seem happy regardless of the language blunder. Text reads: "The laughs that you can sure with friends is nice...and also machines suck at speaking like natural humans, so be cautious."

I'm still in the process of fixing things before I do final colors but I wanted to draw Tarble in a more military-ish uniform and looked for some references.

I liked a design that an artist called crispyclaw on Twitter did, so I did some tweaks there and presto.

Bandai is so super serious about never giving you an adult Bulma figurine they'll give you Bulma turned back into a child as a figure first (but I had to get my babies regardless, also some books I got don't worry about it)

I had a dream about this creature that inhabited Sadala's oceans and I did my best to sketch out what it looked like in my dream. It's massive, it's blind, it senses energy for what prey it goes after and breaches to catch them, yes it was those colors in my dream

Anyway happy Good Friday everyone!
A panel from the MegaMan X 3 manga by Yoshihiro Iwamoto. X and Zero are unconscious and heavily injured whilst being held in a position similar to crucifixtion (arms held out in a T position with wrists and ankles bound) by a drill like contraption that is poised to pierce their heads. Yes, this is a real manga panel. The Japanese text may be a line spoken by Doppler about the world watching their "saviors" X and Zero die on Christmas Eve, but I can't quite remember.

I've been reading a lot more lately in my hiatus for lent! These are just some of the ones I've been reading and I love being excited about reading and discovering new books day by day again!

I very much appreciate reviews like this and I am now sharing this with you all to share the good energy. Please never be scared to comment on works you like, creators (writers, artists, video makers, etc) love it and always remember them.
