Ever wonder what snow in the swamp would look like? This is 5 miles into the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya basin... it's unreal... having lived down there for the first 28 years of my life, we never saw anything like this.

Smashed records.

So last week we had our social/missional enterprise students doing analysis of the best electric rechargeable mowers on the market to see if you business model can sustain the costs. Love watching high school students work on real world problems through church based ministry.

Today we had young adults researching the best models of rechargeable mowers. They did great work comparing features and cost. We are trying to reduce our footprint. Mowtown Teen Lawn Care for the win.

Not only did Latinos shift to Trump, but Latino Christians did moreso. Part of it has to do with a theology that's boomed across Latin America that says God rewards the faithful with health and wealth. Trump for some is clearly blessed

For some Latinos, ‘prosperity gospel’ led them to Trump
The set of beliefs has overtaken traditional theologies centered on the poor. Some experts say that helps explain a shift among Latino Christians to Trump.

When I get frustrated I focus on my church work. Today: Covering rent for an electrician recovering from knee surgery, connecting a young adult in crisis and a foster kid with social enterprise work, and watching 3 generations of students gather around Charlie Brown. Advent joy!

In 1972, 90% of all Americans claimed a Christian affiliation.

In 2022, it was 64%.

73% of Americans were white Christians.
Now, it's 47%

16% were non-white Christians.
Now, it's 17%.

All the drop in Christianity is a decline in white Christianity.

Thanksgiving is always a great reminder that nobody knows more about the world than a college freshman a few months into their first semester.

The difficulty of the Christian proposition is that it gives permission for all to claim the label of Christ’s children and eat at His table even if they know little and often misuse his Way. This is maddening to those who self label as “true disciples”. And it reads as hypocrisy to outsiders.

Mission begins with an explosion of joy.The news the rejected Jesus is alive is something that cannot possibly be suppressed. It must be told.Who could be silent about such a fact? The mission of the Church is like fallout from a vast explosion, radioactive, not lethal but life-giving.-L. Newbigin

This is the first time our social enterprise has tried a SCAG mower. Almost 2k! Really bummed Honda is ceasing manufacturing of the 21’s. Also, employing young adults is the best money we could ever spend. And equipment is expensive!

Matt Overton: How social enterprise has changed my congregation and me
A youth pastor finds that running a social enterprise has influenced everything from his preaching to his role in the community. It has also helped congregants reach across the political divide.

“And since the gospel does not come as a disembodied message, but as the message of a community which claims to live by it and which invites others to adhere to it, the community's life must be so ordered that it "makes sense" to those who are so invited.” -Bishop Leslie Newbigin

It’s Saturday and for this minister/pastor that means teaching students about life skills and job skills and about LIFE! The downside is it’s cold and there is lots of equipment maintenance!
