Hopefully I did not overwhelm with the things I had been preparing myself to say while in the signing line. Importantly, I mentioned I loved North & South, invited him to visit Santa Barbara, and liked the books he acquired.

Forgot about the many baked goods and foods that were at the picnic. One of my colleagues brought tupperware for any of us to take home food, and I definitely left with a bounty of egg rolls, egg tarts, doughnuts and bao.

Steveston has a fish market where fishermen sell and cook their catch from their boats, and there were nice walkways by the shore.
