Assume it's Liverpool. Or on a bike. Or drinking beer.
To the car industry, this cycling paradise is 50,000 (wealthier) people who barely drive. A vast untapped market for EVs. Guilt free driving! They just need more roads and more chargers...

We can't build a bike lane today, because everything is 'Jam Tomorrow', when tomorrow is 20-30 years...

A tragedy in 3 acts, spread over 10 years.

The Derby Arms, Aughton (ish). Sadly, I can't find any photos of the inside, cos I remember it being a beautiful old pub.

"What this relief road needs is a relief road..."

And it's only got more congested since.

This. But it's every remaining last front garden there is.... Not even an official drive, there's only a short dropped kerb.

EVs are the wolves in sheep's clothing coming to eat every investment or incentive for alternative travel...

My mate is a very capable bike fettler, and a good bloke. Frame resprayed by a local place. Then carefully selected campag... I randomly met him on his first shakedown ride.

I wish I could've been there the first time he turned up to the Sunday cafe on this...

One of my old mates has got one... It looks WILD in the flesh. It needed a lot of delicate work to get it into nice condition.

Watching the families cycle round center parcs, in peace... Even though our cities remain almost universally hostile to it.
September 1, 2025 at 1:56 PM
Ya know, that was no bother at all... In a country of car centric infrastructure, driving a car is often the only practical option. Sadly.
September 1, 2025 at 1:56 PM
Joyous sweet pure aircon!! Turn it up, turn it up, Go Go GO!!!

Only on the car though.

At home or in an office we've just gotta suck up the wilting heat.

NO!... haha.... the NEW one up on Kent St.

This one - replaced with a much better cycle friendly filter.

I've got no idea how this was decided, why money was spent here, etc etc.

It's actually improved quite a bit.

If you don't mind cycling through the area...
August 4, 2025 at 2:48 PM
In all honesty, that's not an area where many people walk around, especially not at night.

If your front door looks like this... Then yeah, people respond to that in negative ways (parking on the pavement).

I know this road a tiny bit.

The mad bit is the NCP 'car park'.... at one end of the street... All 5 bays of pay and display.
August 4, 2025 at 8:27 AM
5 miles per kWh! Best I've seen on this car...

As long as you don't use the air-con and only average 8mph.

Long periods of my life represented in a single photo...
July 29, 2025 at 6:00 PM
Watching the Tour just to see how good the bike lanes are... Oh, indeed, Paris knows how to do it!
July 28, 2025 at 2:34 PM
I got one of these. Once installed correctly, nothing much is removing it unless they come properly equipped with power tools.

Get a big SDS drill and fit it correctly into some hard.

Genuinely the kind of thing that turns the best of us into conspiracy freaks.

I have no memory of ever providing this company with my details previously, yet the age verification worked based upon data they already held...

Absolutely bleak.

Enshitification.
July 25, 2025 at 7:07 AM
The best thing about owning an EV is the moral superiority it offers...

Or at least one thing is for sure, EVs won't improve the blight of 'park it like you stole it'.
July 20, 2025 at 8:43 AM
Has there been an example photo yet where the pavement is flagstones rather than tarmac? The wide tarmac border that the gully needs is going to make a real bloody mess of the streets round my way...
July 17, 2025 at 9:50 AM
If you'd suggested turning this road into a walking and cycling route only you'd have been laughed out of town. The 'chaos' it would cause.

And then the bridge failed, and motor vehicles can no longer get through.

And everything is absolutely fine, and this is now a fantastic few miles car free.

The man ain't wrong...
July 11, 2025 at 5:32 PM
2009... Damn, time flies.
July 8, 2025 at 12:03 PM
...And a car industry, with powerful voices, who still play the victim and cry that driving needs to be cheaper...
