At my local used game stuff store the New 3DS line and GBA SP/Micro cost more than a used Switch Lite. The market seems ripe for an affordable FPGA alternative to the Analogue Pocket. And a modded 3DS is just awesome to have haha but that secret is out and prices are getting way up there.

But the Game Boy Player might actually be the cheapest way to play real carts here nowadays.

Yup, it came with the disk. The disk isn’t crazy expensive here so there are lots of listings of just the disk and gb players with no disk, but spice orange does run a little higher… I got lucky on an auction that ended pretty late and got a decent deal.

2 is definitely on my list now. I've been keeping an eye out for affordable boxed GBA games and trying to snatch some up so hopefully these cross my path at the right price.

Hopefully I'll have the whole series someday. I have to keep searching for more deals like this one though haha. Luckily that's half the fun of buying old games I already have ways to play.

Four Mega Man Zero games in 4 years might have sounded like overkill back then but the GOAT GBA got the last laugh.

They were pumping them out and they still managed to improve with each one. It didn't cross my mind back then but I'm so glad devs were able to have that kind of output back in the day because it's just more good stuff to be able to go back to when revisiting a console.
