Alas, it did not. Not for me anyway. I think in general it would have benefited from longer episodes and deeper dives into the issues it attempts to tackle.

They get deployed to help steer the affairs of various vassals. Their emotions (i.e. conscience) are not to get in the way of their judgment - a useful edict if you've been assigned to do nefarious shit. And what harm is a little mind trick on a civilian here and there? They're just pawns.
