i’m trying to fix a cheap thinkpad with questionable history i was so shit out of luck that i tried lenovo’s AI in hopes i’d link me the human support page instead of the fuck your out of warranty laptop page and after telling me to rephrase my question 20 times it sent me the most humiliating shit
Lenovo’s “Lena virtual assistant” window with a question from me that reads “My ThinkPad turns itself off. There is no issue with power. I have run extensive diagnostics and every test has passed. The ThinkPad is running Linux, and I have assured Linux is not the issue. How can I get my laptop to stay on?”. the AI assistant responded in bold text “With the device closed, clamshell opening facing you, the power button will be located in the middle of the right side of the device. When pressed, it should light up indicating that your device is powering on. If it does not light up, and your screen remains blank, you should try charging the device for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power it on again.” accompanied by a top-down picture of a closed ThinkPad with a red arrow pointing to the power button.

Then my friend’s wiry arms were around me, and he was leading me to a chair. “You’re not hurt, Watson? For God’s sake, say that you are not hurt!” It was worth a wound—it was worth many wounds—to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well of a great brain. All of my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.

helping my mom go through her hoard of stuff in her garage and found her old CDs so i brought out my dinky sony stereo and studio monitors and now we’re blasting the Bend It Like Beckham soundtrack through this crunk ass setup
pair of PreSonus Erises plugged into a small Sony stereo which has both its speakers shoved to the left to make room for the top-loading disc drive underneath the shelf above it (wires everywhere) (+ a Phillips stereo to the right which is not currently in use because the mechanical door on the front will bite you & eat your CDs)
