Grr, stand down. Peter Bayley wrote about this in 2008. Nothing new under the sun. Excitement over, but it's still very interesting.

There's a good little write up of his system in the journal too. Given it's 15 years before Walker's patent, I reckon there's a fair chance he was an influence. (As opposed to Walker just coming up with the idea out of relatively thin air, is my main contention.)

We only watch stuff on catch up as we don't have a TV licence and it's relentless. Might just switch to DVDs for the next month.
