Surprised how much genuine heart and depth they were able to pull out of these characters who at first seem a bit archetypey

Forgot what it was like to watch a good Pixar movie lmao, legit got teary-eyed a couple times

I loved the fun ideas and how well it kept the scope manageable, felt like it wasn't trying to be some huge event movie

Really solid all around, I'd give it around an 8

Superman (2025)
I was surprised how deep in the thick of it this movie is from the beginning

I really liked all the little details that feed into how Metropolis as a world is built, like the way the citizens all talk to Supes like he's their personal friend

Super fun, felt fresh for a comic movie

Not hooked enough to go read the comic but if it got picked up as a show I think I'd watch it it seems fun

Pleasant surprise! The 1st season definitely felt like Disney forced them to make a sitcom before they were allowed to make the show they really wanted with Seasons 2+3, but the cast is great and it wound up being really fun and sprawling!

1 movie to go before I cancel Disney+ lmao

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Fantastic, worth the 44 hours. I love almost every decision this game makes except for hiding important progression behind secret breakable walls that can be almost impossible to spot even when you're actively looking + bilewater runback 9.5/10

I guess you could argue the bad things this might cause were just gonna happen anyway though so maybe I'm just too naive

Do any examples you've seen come to mind? I couldn't find any genuine attempts that were

A. Still images
B. Not trying to look like 2D drawings
C. More than just a proof-of-concept

Yeah I'd guess that's probably the main thing, because for instance little 3D "comics" I've seen, that are designed to emulate animation stills with caption-style text on the bottom, don't feel uncanny in the same way

I like these recent re-invention shows with the main DC gang

This is the first solo Superman thing I've ever really gotten into and I really enjoy it, makes me wanna check out more stuff

First ever exposure to Supergirl and she's great

The Sopranos

Holds up really well! There's a lot of DNA from this show in things that come later (Breaking Bad especially) and even if in some ways it feels like it's just paving the way for storytelling I enjoy even more, I think everything about the way it is fits what it's trying to do.

This show, every single episode, puts an insane amount of resources into something so ridiculous you'd be shocked to see any S&P dept. approve it for even some $0 show tucked away somewhere

And somehow, it manages to actually be convincing/emotionally compelling at the same time
