Thinking about how I was once at a con where @runwithskizzers.bsky.social said a good way to help authors combat negativity on the internet is to tell them when you enjoy their stories.

So I left a comment on the next fanfic I read.

The author responded.

She’s now my wife.

My elderly grandfather told me he was impressed by my beard. He said he should have taken testosterone because he always wanted a beard but could only grow a bright red mustache 😆

Reminder that gender afferming care is for everyone!

I often look up things to help me with my writing & now and then I find an old browser open to something like ‘creepiest things found in cellars’ and it takes me a min to realize that no, my computer is not compromised, that is in fact my browsing history.

🏳️‍⚧️I’m happy to see so many people celebrating trans books during the Trans Rights Readathon! ✨

👻If you’re in the mood for a queer cozy ghost mystery, here’s your friendly reminder to check out the Abby Spector ghost mystery series. Think Dead Boy Detectives meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Today I wrote an underwater scene that I did not plan on writing, but one of my characters wanted to go in a lake so—here we are.

I really love this character though so I can’t complain.

Just another day in the life of an off the cuff writer I guess 😅

Romance readers — I may or may not be in need of some second chance romance books for research 👀

Does anyone have any recommendations? Straight or queer (preferably contemporary or fantasy, but I’ll consider other genres as well).

I’d love to hear your favorites 💖

And yet every time my introverted wife sees the vast snowy countryside with no one around for miles she asks where it was filmed and if we can move there 😅
the Severance creators really made a mood board called "SEASONAL DEPRESSION" and ran with it and I love that for them

Just saw a spruced up old mustang speeding down a country road blasting classical music. If that doesn’t scream Aglionby Academy, idk what does.

When I worked on The Office, Greg Daniels had a list of questions he asked of every story. Some were show-specific (eg “Are we saying something truthful if exaggerated about office life?”), but many are applicable to any script. Here’s a little thread on them…

My wife and I have started watching Shrinking—it’s great! I’m impressed by how they keep it lighthearted while exploring grief and trauma.

I just can’t get over how wonderful & funny Harrison Ford is in it. I can’t believe they got Harrison Ford. HARRISON FORD 👏

One of the challenges I have with book marketing that I haven’t heard talked about in most book marketing advice is the extra challenges as a marginalized author. Especially right now as a trans author in the US when just existing in certain places is sometimes seen as a threat.

Lately, I've been getting a lot of questions from readers about the platform and format that earns authors most.

I have written a blog post to answer those questions.

I’m finally making progress on Book 3 in the Abby Spector Ghost mystery series!

This one is a murder mystery (as opposed to the first two mysteries where the characters have to prevent a murder from a vengeful ghost—in this one they meet a murdered ghost and have to determine who killed her).

Almost every time my wife’s asked me what I want to watch for the past 6 months my response has been ‘is leverage out yet?’
