It's unfortunate that Whedon turned out to be a horrible person, because I did really enjoy Buffy s5, s6(until the last three episodes) and Angel s5. It's a shame you have to sit through things like Angel s4, Angel s3, and Buffy s4 to get there though

I'm not sure what people mean when they call Buffy "mean-spirited". Like sure Whedon is a terrible person, and the show does have a lot of quips, but it was perfectly capable of getting serious when needed
