have not yet finished the final chapter but I am coming to the conclusion that I simply cannot until I re-read the rest of the book, which also means I'll get to do some editing

these people just have no conception of what the social and cultural value of having critics is

this reads to me like a moment of self-conscious ironic deflection after a sudden insight into how inadvertently pathetic the original video is

man I need to rewatch Soldier -- I think it's among my earliest ever movie memories due to an absolutely irresponsible parent

runner up would probably be the inciting death in episode 1 that gets flashbacked to over and over again

I played the demo and recruited a guy I found in a basement into my party, who then died when he tried to bash down a door, and the rest of the party used his corpse as a battering ram, this game will be incredible

Also, the narrative -- such as it exists -- of a nerd girl going into the magic dungeon world through her TV basically to fuck monsters and getting spat back out when she loses, is just a fun way to contextualize the whole game!

there's often a decision to make the erotic content a loss-state that I think is simply bad game design, but Hard Stuck just sidesteps that issue entirely by smartly making the monsterfucking another form of interaction as opposed to combat, with its own resource to manage.

I personally love that story, even though, uh... it's not sufficient to get me to believe in magic -- nobody is awestruck by the times the rain *doesn't* stop. But it's illuminating to see more directly how magic and sorcery could be mundane parts of society, both in tradition and in practice

His friend just said "don't worry, I hired a sorcerer for the day." And on the day of the wedding, this shaman arrives and goes out into the rain, where the wedding will take place, does his spell. And the rain clears for the duration of the wedding, and immediately resumes once the wedding is over.

At one point we had a guest lecture from one of my anthropology professors who specialized in cults and mysticism, who when asked if he believed in magic, told us a story about his time in Benin when his friend was having an outdoor wedding during monsoon season --
"Why schedule your wedding then?"
