played Hard Stuck by @floppystack.bsky.social for a few hours yesterday -- great game that I think really improves on the adult dungeon crawler format, and the conceit of slapping porn (really well made porn) on top of Rogue is a stroke of genius. Really looking forward to where the game goes

this reminds me of this cool class I took in undergrad, "Magic and Witchcraft in Ancient Greece and Rome" where at the end of the semester we made protective amulets. Fun class! Definitely influenced how I wrote fantasy. But for me the most memorable moment wasn't related to Greece or Rome at all--
All of which serves as a useful reminder of the Roman worldview - and indeed, the worldview of many ancient cultures - which saw their natural world as suffused with supernatural powers, both divine and magical which acted in subtle but significant ways that humans might harness or avert. /end

I had a job interview last week for a contract position, I have an interview for a full time job on Tuesday, plus another application for a non-profit writer position that's in a second stage. this is the most balls I've had in the air in the last two years. Might everything be coming up Milhouse?

I think I'm very close to finishing up a hobby project that has dominated every day of my life since like... mid-April, which will bode very well for the conclusion of Acolyte, which I've been slowly picking at in my very limited time between job apps, RPG campaigns, personal essays, game design etc

tried to watch the first episode of the new season of Critical Role, pretty much out of curiosity, and man, I just can't do it. The cast is too big and they're constantly in Acting Mode in a way that I find so tedious.

I do think that we'll see a brand shift where corporations start to "put humans first" as AI becomes more and more poisonous

I've seen comments from artists, filmmakers, etc. whose work is within the erotic distance themselves from the pornographic by implying or saying that titillation is not the point of the work. meanwhile, I think being turned on to the point of masturbation is a perfectly acceptable reaction to art

I see posts from researchers like "I use AI to help me summarize papers, so I don't have to spend all day reading journals" and personally I would prefer science to be done by people who don't fail at the basic hurdle of "being able to read"
