Bespoke Federal Reserve Exception

You can trash the country, the Constitution, and democracy, but hands off the economy.
For many people on this site, Dems are always the real enemy because they refuse to use their magic powers.

Was anyone involved with Epstein besides Serrano (who, to be clear, was always a self-aggrandizing clown, even by the standards of contemporary art)?

That's a pretty vague and almost misleading question. If you ask "Do you support the Trump administration sending ICE to conduct sweeps in American cities," or "do you think undocumented workers with no criminal records should be imprisoned and/or deported," the numbers will drop.

Harris won 12.6 points in 2024. Most of the state is rural, but most of the voters are solidly Democratic.

Wait, you mean there aren't a substantial number of voters who are transphobes looking for candidates who endorse a slightly less odious version of transphobia than the GOP is peddling?

I think you should ask Matt Yglesias, Jesse Singal, and Jake Tapper about that.

Yes, and she's implicitly suggesting that abolitionism would be *better* for victims of sexual assault!

Okay, but Raskin endorsed Mamdani.

Trump absolutely is damaged. The question is how much.

Regardless, he's already a lame duck and MTG (who both despicable and stupid) is the first Republican to implicitly announce that.

I would love to hear more about that.

My sense is that that brutal NY Mag profile was an attempt to shame him into retiring.
November 13, 2025 at 7:52 PM
Nope. In Trump v. US they said the president enjoys almost complete immunity.

(Note: "The president" means Trump, since that ruling will go out the window if/when a Democrat is charged.)

My only gripe is with the production of the post New Day albums. It seems both slick and murky, although the songs are great.

Speaking of production, did you hear the Ed Stasium mix of "Tim?" It's WAY better than Tommy Ramone's atrocity.

Agree completely -- I was surprised by how good that is.
November 12, 2025 at 5:42 PM
With Epstein? Maybe. With everything else? The six conservative hacks on SCOTUS were going to make sure Trump never saw a courtroom.

Lily King said McCarthy couldn't decide if he wanted to be Hemingway or Faulkner and that passage nails his ambivalence.
