Illustrations reflect the handwritten text it is close to.] [Text reads:] March of 2023, I had double incision chest masculinizing surgery with nipple grafts. This zine is a list of supplies and tips that helped my healing process from kind folks online and my own struggles. I hope it helps! [Text continues:] Sleep upright with HELLA PILLOWS. NECK PILLOW. MASTECTOMY PILLOW. PUT EXTRA PILLOWS UNDER YOUR KNEES. BODY PILLOW FOR MORE SUPPORT. Listen to your body and give it what it needs. Serving tray for meals in bed (and/or a lap desk). Bendy straws to stay hydrated (drink a lot!). DISPOSABLE DISHES: Doing dishes was hard for my caretaker and me, so get some you can toss. EASY-TO-DIGEST FOODS!! Like rice, soup, canned veggies, oatmeal (also... TAKE POO -SOFTENERS <— you will not regret it!) [Text continues:] Put a scrap of fabric under your armpits and change regularly! (Also, good to shave them before surgery). Wet wipes and gentle sponge baths for the stink (use cooler water when you CAN finally shower). Use a fanny pack to hold your JP drains (if you have em). Extra cool pocket for meds (and treasure). ✨FASHION✨ You will be ITCHY. Ask your doc if you can take Benadryl to ease this and help you sleep—it helped me! Trust in your core and leg strength. Be sure to stand and walk around sometimes! [I should have added, if walking is something you do. If not, gentle movements will also help!] Put your scar care oil of choice in a roll-on applicator (I used castor oil [and BioOil]) (I also used silicone scar strips[/tape], which are great!) Have back-up plans for your entertainment! I ended up scrolling socials a lot because I couldn’t concentrate on reading or audio-only stuff. Put everything at counter-height to reach meds, snacks, books, etc. easily: IMPORTANT. [With the drawing of a T-rex that is meant to represent you] <— T-rex arms. TAKE NAPS, zzzz.
