The Caltrain suburbs (that used to be built like cities!) are STILL treating sidewalk space as free real estate.

A wallet covered in blood

We should even be talking about green infrastructure in suburban spaces. We USED to have it!

That's how he got there, though.

And, importantly, the options that have been floated are only ranging from increasing their budget by 30-80% on the high end. But SamTrans has to increase their budget by 300% just to get us in line with SF bus counts per capita. That's before any Green New Deal-style funding expansion.

I will be here. And then I will be here. 👀

SamTrans needs more service, but that's a completely different scale. They could've eliminated fare last year. But Muni has 4x the budget for ~3.5x greater transit mode share. And that's before Green New Deal budget expansions. But free fare increases ridership to agencies of most size by 40% now.

Just think of the Golden Gate Park 2 we could have
(All 4 plots East of Skyline Blvd are golf courses, 5 if you count Presidio). It would also instantly turn LA into a decently park-heavy metro, when it’s basically park-absent.

Surprisingly, the still-fairly-visited Hillsdale Mall is considering total redevelopment, rather than infill like Stonestown (a successful-ish model of a modern mall), except follow the design guides of some of the worst YIMBY construction in the Bay Area. Mission Bay is a ghost town.

It’s so frustrating in the Caltrain suburbs. You can sometimes see evidence they planned the streets like SF then got removed, but in like the random-est places like the 76 off the highway. See the lines continue straight?

Yup. They did it to hitchhiking. They’re doing it to trains.

Very. Also, Antioch station could be like 4x more useful if they just built this bridge too. Smh.

I repeat to people irl all the time, Seoul to Busan are almost identical to San Jose and Los Angeles by latitude, and I rode the high speed route between them over a decade ago. (The service itself is older than I am.) It’s not direct and in spring there’s a stop people go to for Sakura festivals.

Many of SF's most popular shopping streets are not vital to the road network. We should be able to easily imagine a Valencia or Church open to transit, bikes, pedestrians, and parklets but not to cars.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read it without picturing

San Mateo is REMOVING bike lanes. This is beyond selfish and irresponsible, this decision will be inked in blood. For many children, this is a route to school!!!

Ds are offset as they're the cab/drivers. Es are the symmetric passenger cars. If we call this design E', I picture DE'EEEEE'D. (Though I could see matching it with more of the 3042, the sideways only car, in the middle two)

Not only are you doing mental gymnastics to try and claim this here, separate studies have been done for you saying the opposite.
