The best @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social is MLKjr, home of the DC Punk Archive. Today Ian Mackaye chatted for about an hour with former bandmate Brian Baker. They reminisced about their history together in #MinorThreat, their time spent as youths in DC, and promoting Brian’s new book #TheRoad.

The Goons got the rooftop so riled up, a fan crowd surfaced through both the inside venue (which was opened and where the bands played) towards the rooftop garden. The Goons absolutely killing it at the final show of the summer at the DC Punk MLKjr Library rooftop series. The band and crowd fully engaged, while the wood floor in the library bounced from dancing and The Goons singer’s head cocked to left while belting out lyrics.

Their latest album Bad Vibes OST has helped me power through some crazy work shit the past 3 weeks and their live shows are cathartic. Sexfaces live onstage at Union Stage on June 16, 2025, from left to right onstage playing their song “Special/Lame (Pick as You See Fit)” — Hana on electric Viola, Sal Go on geetar and vocals, Jacky on vocals and a mini drum kit, and Fiona, the band’s personal therapist, on bass. On the right of the stage, next to Fiona, is none other than the vocalist from DC’s Clear Channel, Awad. Jacky proclaimed that Clear Channel is one of the best DC Punk Rock bands to exist, and Jacky’s not wrong. Awad is on the far right end of the stage, showing off why every punk in DC knows that Awad possesses the most beautiful booty in all of DC Punk Land. Awad shook that rump at the crowd for a full two minutes and 53 seconds as SEXFACES wailed out the lyrics of Special/Lame, and somehow, amazingly, Fiona was able to avoid making eye contact with the spectacle just to the left of her (proof on Insta). Their latest album Bad Vibes OST has helped me power through some crazy work shit the past 3 weeks and their live shows are cathartic. Sexfaces live onstage at Union Stage on June 16, 2025, from left to right onstage — Hana on electric Viola wailing away, Sal Go bent over halfway strumming the life out of the geetar, Jacky on vocals and the mini drum kit, and Fiona, the band’s personal therapist, cranking out on the bass. The Lambrini Girls killed it at the historic Howard Theater on Lambrini Girl Day May 4th, 2025, in the DMV. Samantha Collings from DC’s own Massie slayed it as the touring drummer for the band playing this show in her hometown. Must see show in 2025.

What makes this black and white photo special is that it was taken right at the moment a professional photographer’s flash went off lighting up Phoebe perfectly in the crowd. Black and white photo of bassist Lilly sitting on the crowd railing whilst singing Cuntology 101 and her left arm raised in the air, which whipped the crowd into a frenzy as their last song of the set. Behind her you can see singer/guitarist Phoebe (who broke a guitar string on the first song of the set with her right arm raised in the air singing also. Looking closely at the curtains on the side of the stage you can see the drummer, Jonathan Boule, from the opening band Party Dozen from Australia, staring out at Lambrini Girls and the crowd, amazed at the frenzy the crowd is whipped up into for this last song of the night. The show was electric all night long. Singer & guitarist Phoebe Lunny and bassist Lilly Macieira facing each other and playing their instruments on stage. With Massie drummer Samantha Collings tearing up the Pearl drum kit at the back of the stage to their left.

Medusa’s in Chicago, where i met Divine in 1987. And then several other friends who were trans i met and danced with at Medusa’s & Shelter on Friday and Saturday nights from ‘87-‘91, the most notable being JoJo Baby, who passed away in March 2023 - made me realize as a teenager we are all human.
JoJo Baby’s door frame and entrance to their home near Chicago Ave and Western Ave in Chicago. The door frame looks like an elongated mouth with the lips painted blue with snowflakes. On the top of the doorframe are a set of 5 teeth. The door itself is a mouth wide open with a uvula on the top and a tongue on the bottom of the door. JoJo was the best 🙏🏻

I am old enough to remember when #DaveNavarro wasn’t married. When he kissed Perry Farrell onstage in November 1988 at the Metro in Chicago after Jack Scratch and Live Skull opened for them. Way before he had many tattoos and was converted into a puppet.
Dave Navarro, amazing accomplished guitarist from his original band that made him famous Jane’s Addiction. It would appear that on the weekend of his marriage, that People magazine arranged for a photo shoot that made him appear as though he is a puppet from the Movie Team America. It is hard to describe but his body is super small and ill proportioned to the size of his rather large head in the picture. It is as if he is trying to imitate Prince in a bad way.

Members of Pretty Bitter, Cherub Tree, Flowerbomb and Massie — playing the last song of the night for the DC Abortion Fund fundraiser at Songbyrd. Miri the bassist from Pretty Bitter called all the bands that had played up on stage for the last song. Reese was on the sound board and freaking killed it for all four bands. Jason Hayes, the drummer from Pretty Bitter took off his shirt to show how his muscles work when he drums like a metronome with never before seen flare. Zack Be from Pretty Bitter on keyboard played the entire show without shoes or socks on a metal floor that had to be very cold — he was also doing high kicks like Leslie Hall all night. Everyone on stage is having an amazing time. And there was so much love in the audience and on the stage. Long Live DC Abortion Fund, aka DCAF.
