Two things are true:

1) The total UK tax take is higher than pre-Brexit. (The economy grew.)

2) The total UK tax take is lower than had Brexit not happened. Why? Because Brexit lowered GDP growth rates. (The economy grew less than it would have.)

The gap between the two is the "cost" of Brexit.

It wasn’t ‘project fear’ it was project reality - The cost of Brexit is now clearer than ever.
9 years on from the Brexit vote, the verdict is in and predictions correct:

🕳️£40 billion hole in public finances
📉4% hit to UK productivity
📦15% drop in trade
💷 £100bn in tax rises—40% of which Brexit made necessary

Happy Brexitversary! 🇬🇧🎉

Predictions of £40bn hit to public finances from Brexit ‘correct’
Office for Budget Responsibility’s forecast of a 4 per cent productivity loss from leaving the EU has been largely borne out, says top economist

💥 The benefits of Brexit are as “elusive as Lord Lucan”, John Major has declared and he called for Britain to rejoin CU and SM.

“The only Brexit ‘freedom’ I’ve yet seen is the freedom to be poorer.” and that Brexit was a “gift to countries that wish us ill, and a shock to those that wish us well”.

I don't want to hear "we can't afford it" one more time from Labour.

Not while they continue to reinforce their Brexit red lines.

The amount of money being left on the table by not seeking to rejoin the EU is eye-watering.

The tax lost to Brexit would have paid for everything Labour needed.

If Brexit were given the attention its damage deserved, it would be on everyone's lips and at the top of the news agenda.

It's only because politicians are too cowardly to draw the connections between Brexit and all the problems facing Britain that it's off the radar as a key issue (THE key issue).

Dyson offshored jobs, dodged EU law, cheered deregulation.

🔥 Now he’s facing modern slavery claims in 🇬🇧 courts — and can’t run.

Turns out you can’t vacuum up justice

Offshoring has consequences.
Especially when ibuilt on exploitation/arrogance.
Dyson’s Brexit just handed him his own reckoning.

Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied
The problem with this ‘let’s weaken our commitment to the ECHR so as to fend off Farage’ plan is that when it doesn’t work, we end up with Farage *and* a weakened commitment to the ECHR at exactly the moment we need the ECHR the most.

So basically what is best for Gibraltar is to enjoy more freedoms than the rest of us.
Britain and the EU have agreed a fresh Brexit deal that will see Gibraltar open its borders with Spain, abolish passport controls with the EU, and join the EU customs union.
Brexit pushes Gibraltar into EU customs union and Schengen area
The Rock’s government has sought such a deal for years — complaining that border crossings have become more onerous since the U.K. left the EU.

“Is Rachel Reeves a good chancellor?”

Paul Johnson’s laugh exposes the truth: Labour has chosen to strangle local economies with Tory Brexit red lines and austerity-era fiscal rules.

This is why British farms and SMEs are being run down as Patrick Minford predicted.

‼️ This is absolutely absurd. Trump is actively manufacturing a crisis. The Pentagon just announced that he’s federalizing another 2,000 California National Guard troops bringing the total to 4,000, plus 700 active-duty Marines heading into LA. This is a military occupation, not public safety.

🔹 Why pensions are sacred but child benefits are not

Because MPs are chasing headlines of ageing newspapers which try to set the agenda, but it’s speaking to fewer, older readers.

Imagine if a referendum were held in which 52% of those who voted declared that the Earth was flat.

And that subsequently everyone in the UK was forced to behave as if the Earth was indeed flat, and all main parties said "Ok, flat it is. Evidence be damned."

That's Brexit.
