23 year Army/Army Guard veteran here. This is obscene. Politics be damned; SPC Becstrom died in the line of duty and the media should have been there. I did not expect anyone from the Administration to be there; but the forth estate should have been there. Our nation sucks right about now.

(2) with respect to suicide; I’m blessed that all my battle buddies are still alive and kicking. It’s not always easy and some phone calls have been brutal, that’s for sure.

(1) I know the stats and that as long a I can remember this nation has shit on its veterans. I told all three of my sons the good, bad, and ugly. I have also had that talk with my eldest grands (son and daughter) and they want to enlist. I will support their choice either way.

I expect people to stop and think before making foolish comments about the National Guard. Guardsmen do not get to choose their deployments/call up’s. What evidence do YOU have to support the statement they are incompetent. Damn, just damn.
