I think a lot of people fail to comprehend what goes into turning a blank page into a drawing, a painting, a story, a novel, a song. It is an act of skill and talent, hope and faith, and of sheer gritty determination to see something through to its end. No AI can recreate this very human experience.

they call us "content creators" because that is all we are to them. not artists, writers, cartoonists, painters, filmmakers-- "content". content is nebulous, corporate, unthreatening, apolitical, a flattening. so they call it content, because they don't respect us, & now they're throwing tantrums
Responding to the NYT lawsuit last month, OpenAI had said it respected “the rights of content creators and owners”. AI companies’ defence of using copyrighted material tends to lean on the legal doctrine of “fair use”, which allows use of content in certain circumstances without seeking the owner’s permission.

Not to mention in this context, "content" can also be the "content of [their] software". Nothing less. We exist only to give content to their machines free of charge, because, as you said, they want it to be valueless for their own sakes
