It’s just not good enough leaving these children without school places. They have the same basic right to access education as ALL children. Solidarity with these parents.

⭐️ I’m grateful to the editors for including my personal essay in the new Winter 2025 issue of Trasna ⭐️

I wrote about Nollaig na mBan, the birth stories we share, and the ones we don’t.

Discovered recently that Pilates was invented by a man called Joseph Pilates and couldn’t stop laughing. It’s like finding out that yoga was actually invented by someone called David Yoga.

Last week's storm revealed not just the power of nature but also our own vulnerabilities, Declan Varley writes this week www.advertiser.ie/galway/artic...
Unforgiving storm highlighted our vulnerabilities
Galway and the west coast of Ireland bore the brunt of the storm's fury last weekend, lashed by winds that howled like banshees, tearing through the land with a reckless, unrelenting force. The skies ...

In 2007, a clip went viral of a man being stopped on the street by a Guangzhou TV reporter. The man was asked about a sex scandal that was all over the news at the time and his reply has been a popular Chinese slang phrase for not getting involved ever since. He said “I’m just here to buy soy sauce”

David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

RIP David Lynch
A one of a kind artist. Genuinely saddened to hear of his passing.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Agree 100%. Skillfully done. Proper public service broadcasting 🙌
Credit where it's due, that hour from Radio 1 going to every constituency in alphabetical order with a presenter for each was some impressive radio. #GE24

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

So, I got starter-pack FOMO and decided to make one for writing people who know stuff and pass it on through courses, workshops, newsletters etc.

It includes all the savants who teach me stuff. I've probably missed people but these were the ones who sprung to my head.
