I like to crochet. Mom of 2. Here to learn. Let's go Mets! Kindness matters. Covid is airborne.
I don't know that I should count this as #TabClosed2026 since I opened and read it the same day but it's a really good read. I hadn't heard of thermostatic politics ("where public preferences shift in the opposite direction of government action") before.
And now for the most-read article….

#1 Good to Know: The public is a thermostat. Good Authority fellow @akoustov.bsky.social explains the political science behind the never-ending cycle of governments doing something – and the public demanding the opposite.

What thermostatic politics means for government policies.
Thermostatic politics helps the voting public keep the government more responsive to collective preferences.

Also you are currently nearer in time to Cleopatra than Cleopatra was to the laying-down of the first stone of the Great Pyramid of Giza, so even human time is completely unfathomable to us, let alone the vastly deeper variety.

This is a *bad* flu season

If you're not vaccinated get vaccinated. It's hitting really hard and it's hitting hard very early.

The flu vaccine doesn't always prevent infection, but it reduces severity.
This is the second pediatric #flu death I've seen in 2 days. I'm so sorry for the pain their families must feel. Unclear if either was vaccinated but odds are they were not, as most such deaths are in unvaccinated children.

I have been working on my family tree on and off over the years. I have found #genealogy to be challenging and fun. I have lots of open tabs for articles to read or sites to search. I'm going to post them here so I can refer back as needed. #TabClosed2026

Reading a few articles this evening and so far they are all about immigration. This is a good article about birthright citizenship. #TabClosed2026 time.com/7300066/why-...
History Shows Why Birthright Citizenship is so Important
The 14th Amendment aimed to overturn restrictive state laws while making the Constitution more inclusive.

Watching #SisterAct tonight. Forgot how much fun this movie is. And how many of the nuns are so familiar. Great cast.

GOOD NEWS! For the first time ever, Huntington's disease has been successfully treated. A groundbreaking new miRNA treatment, AMT-130, slowed the progression of the disease by 75%. These results are likely to support the first approval of a genetic treatment for the rare neurodegenerative condition.

I crocheted little stuffed turtles for my nieces and nephews this Christmas. They were fun to make! I made them with the Nap Time yarn from Lion Brand and they are very soft. I also crocheted the eyes since most of the kids are toddlers.
