VOA’s Kurdish Service longtime main anchorman, Balen Salih, has suddenly died. He had been sentenced to death by Iraqi security forces for leading a student demonstration in 1982 against Saddam Hussein’s regime. I always enjoyed being a guest on his program as he was a top-notch broadcaster.
