See, when I’m struggling with some piece of adventure or game design, I’ll bounce it off my wife. She has really good ideas. When I mentioned it to Flagbearer, they agreed she deserved a writing credit, which they gave her—and an author copy besides. It’s a small gesture, but very cool.

What fun! :D

I liked it! I felt it really captured how, even for someone thoughtful and intelligent, just about anything—no matter how horrific—can become "just a job." Plus, it was a great window into a different way of looking at the world.

Ooh, I like the image they picked for it!

Only a few times a year do I make a decision that genuinely could go either way and has a real impact on me and those around me. But in RPGs, I get to make a meaningful decision every fifteen minutes. And it’s a rush every time.

For me, it's about getting to make decisions. In my everyday life, I make few meaningful choices. The stuff that’s meaningful has a clear right answer (attend the protest, call your mom), and the stuff that could go either way doesn’t actually matter (sweet potatoes or white potatoes for dinner).

I'm honestly just glad I didn't come off as a reply guy or sealion. :)

Hah! I'd play that adventure. :)

But whenever I see “just be a normal person” as marketing advice, I have to marvel at how different humans can be.

I’m not claiming that creators and promoters who community-build and hang out in a bunch of Discords and subreddits are being dishonest! I know people who do those things and genuinely find it rewarding and fun, like you say.

For me, a Facebook ad is obnoxious, but at least it’s honest. It’s not pretending to be your friend in the hopes that you’ll buy a zine someday.
