We played Ten Candles for Halloween! Due to a remarkable streak of rolls and alignment of character traits, we only ever extinguished two candles. The remaining eight had to be left to burn out on their own. #ttrpg

A little surprise at the barber college.

This year’s best trick-or-treater was a child dressed as Saul Goodman. I blurred his face because, y’know, child.

At Game Hole Con, I got a chance to play the Waking of Willowby Hall — with Shadowdark rules! Super fun, and the GM brought an RIP stamp for dead characters. #ttrpg #shadowdark

At Game Hole Con, I played Rebels of the Outlaw Wastes by @nerdypupgames.bsky.social. First impression: ooh, when I level up I get to put stickers on my character sheet!

In colonial Lima, Peru, the Spanish Inquisition ran a charity school for promising foundlings. Because it was the Inquisition, the school had some quirks. File the serial numbers off and add it to your ongoing RPG campaign! #ttrpg #history moltensulfur.com/post/the-inq...

I made a long weekend to sneak away and go camping.

The fairy tale “Death’s Godson” makes a really cool springboard for an adventure with major consequences in your ongoing fantasy RPG campaign! moltensulfur.com/post/deaths-...

This week, we did Cozy Game Night! Our host made scones and little sandwiches, and we drank pots and pots of tea. #ttrpg

The transition from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar got weird in Augsburg, Germany when half the population refused to make the switch. Confusion, riots, and espionage followed. It’s remarkably gameable! #history #ttrpg

Xenophon’s attitude towards ruins in the lands he marched through is super gameable! Ziggurats, walls, crumbling cities, and the people who dwell within! moltensulfur.com/post/heirs-o...

The 1918 Cloquet-Moose Lake wildfire in northern Minnesota makes great inspiration for a fire with which to complicate the lives of the PCs in your ongoing RPG campaign. It’s full of shocking moments and builds up to a dramatic *railroad escape!* #ttrpg #history

In the above photo, I adore this tiny concentration: an American flag, a Woody Guthrie lyric, and a Minnesota pride flag.

Despite a political assassination and the weather, today’s No Kings rally in St. Paul seemed to me to be larger than the preceding Hands Off protest, itself the largest protest in Minnesota in recent memory. #mn #NoKings

I’m agog to be able to publicly announce that Ballad Hunters—my forthcoming TTRPG about singing and fighting magical folk ballads in 1813 England and Scotland—will be published by @pelgranepress.bsky.social! #ttrpg

The bizarre 10th-century Exeter Book contains a whole bunch of cool Saxon riddles. Eleven of them are a good fit for your RPG campaign! Some are jokes, some are dirty, and some are very clever indeed. #ttrpg #history

My tomatoes might be doing TOO well; I’ve still got ten days until I put them in the ground, and they are frankly enormous.

Around 1620, the Speckled Bamboo Shrine in Shaoxing, China inadvertently became the focus of a fad among tea-drinkers. The shrine’s sudden popularity disrupted the monks’ work in some surprisingly gameable ways. moltensulfur.com/post/the-end...

My tomatoes are coming along nicely, getting ready to be planted on Mother’s Day, as is the tradition here in Minnesota. I’ve had several friends ask me for tomato plants this year, so I’m growing for them too. :)
