These myths helped our race cope with the fears we could not control, showing us heroes vanquishing their evil. Films today give us a visual representation of these trails and live on as testaments to how far the human race has come today.

In today’s time, we recognize films like Midsommar, The Blair Witch Project, and La Llorona. These films were cultivated to show the fears and anxieties we face in the world such as cults, the unknown, and the trails of man.

These fables would find links to the devil and unknown things lurking in the night. In short, vampires walked onto the scene and were one of the first tales of folklore shown in early cinema; popularly with Nosferatu.

Referring to folklore, Germanic fables grew in popularity in the Dark Ages with authors such as Jacob Grimm. The focus of these fables were centered around religion and mental struggles and trials of mankind. (Britannica, 2020)

In the past, people used folklore to cope with the terrifying world around them. Some would make up stories that correlated to unexplained issues, leading to such crises such as the Salem Witch Trials.
