I was watching the 1966 film adaptation of Mary McCarthy’s The Group last night and couldn’t figure out why the actor playing Libby looked so familiar, and then it hit me: she’s Lucille Bluth!

Normally I would text this thought to my brother but as he is hiking right now, I’ll share it with you: the illustration on the cover of this album by The Fixx reminds me of the stretchy-arms guy from the og Super Nintendo Street Fighter

You’re in for a treat when the story starts, “No one at Sunny Wonders Amusement Park was more downtrodden about owner Barry Victor’s death than the twenty-seven mannequins of his likeness that stood like sentries across the sweltering, dilapidated grounds of his life’s work.” 🎡🎢🎟️ @johnchrostek.com

My mom just sent me the photos my grandparents took when I sent them my Flat Stanley in 2001 and I have now claimed dibs in the event that my nieces ever get to do the same project and also if any of you have Flat Stanley photos or memories, please share them here!!!

My grandparents recently moved into assisted living which means all of their belongings have been sorted through. My dad was reading my grandma’s travel journals and just sent over this excerpt about my brother and I circa 1997 and I love it 😂

Looky what I found (and purchased) in a little bookstore in Corolla, NC! I have, of course, already read this gorgeous novel, but I’m so excited to have my own copy now 😊

There are so many excellent passages throughout Sad Grownups and this particular passage, from “Dick Cheney Was Not My Father,” is one of them @amystuber.com

My best friend from Virginia just moved to my hometown in Maryland. I spent the weekend with her and said that of all the people we might run into, I hoped it was one of my favorite high school teachers—but I mean, what are the odds? And then, we did! Here’s to the teachers who save lives 🍻

The best part of adulthood is always, always using adult agency to make your inner child happy, even if you have reached the age where lactaid is a must 🍦🤓

I know this doesn’t boost your ranking but I was finally able to snag a copy at the library just a few hours ago and I’m so excited!!

Just finished Cassandra on Netflix and it’s like the DCOM, Smart House, but all grown up. It feels relevant in the age of rampant AI chaos but doesn’t sacrifice story (or horror) to make a point. Overall review: hell yeah

I’ve seen a few people in my circle say they’ve discovered their books in this wretched “database” and just wanted to highlight this actionable advice from the Society of Authors

Blue and yellow were the colors I chose for my bedroom at the age when I was certain I’d grow up to be an interior designer and this tree reminds me of the paint that was so impossible to cover before we moved

I’m giving StoryGraph a try and this review prompt is so funny to me. I understand that entire genres hinge on the answer to this question being “yes” but still, what an odd way to distill your opinion of whether or not a book was good

Looking at a copy of Needlecraft Magazine from 1928 and this ad is taking me out. Live rubber arms!

Sometimes you meet someone who is not on this plane anymore and think, “God, the friendship we could have had,” and that’s how I felt at the Gertrude Abercrombie exhibit at the CMOA today
